The five states with the most new foreclosure filings —

Florida, Texas, California, Ohio and Illinois — accounted for 50 percent of the nation’s foreclosure activity in August!!

The Center for Responsible Lending stated the following:

The nonprofit group said industry data suggest that only about 118,000 of the 3.7 million homeowners with existing subprime adjustable-rate mortgages, or ARMs, would be eligible to have the interest rate on their mortgage frozen under the Treasury plan.

"The Treasury plan will be a welcome relief for those it helps, but given the magnitude of today's economic woes, the plan won't help nearly enough to avoid further widespread economic damage from foreclosures," a statement from the center said.
